ULVAC, Inc., since its inception in 1952, works under the corporate philosophy of “Contributing to industry and science in vacuum technology”. ULVAC provides vacuum products to the electronics and a variety of other industries as a comprehensive manufacturer of vacuum products. The main business activities are the manufacture and sale of vacuum apparatus such as manufacturing equipment, various vacuum pumps, and measurement/analysis instruments, all of which are using the application of vacuum technologies for semiconductors, electronics, FPD, solar batteries, cars, pharmaceuticals, foods, chemicals and etc. Also in the materials business, important activities are the manufacture and sales of sputtering targets and various manufactured products from tantalum.
ULVAC, Inc. recognizes that the engagement of conflict minerals is to be one of corporate social responsibility, and makes efforts toward the nonuse of source raw materials that were mined or obtained by illegal finance or illegal ways, but also products and/or parts containing such minerals obtained in this manner.
As one of the minerals in Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and adjoining countries, the tantalum source material is treated as follows: ULVAC, Inc. does not purchase nor uses 3TG raw material that has originated from conflict minerals whose mining and transactions directly or indirectly finance armed groups or become the grass roots of human rights abuse or labor problems. ULVAC will conduct due diligence in accordance with the guidance of OECD and EICC.
ULVAC, Inc. never accepts any abuse of human rights relating to transport and transaction as well as mineral mining in conflict areas, and carries out investigations of conflict minerals through their supply chains in order to assure transparency in transactions, and thus promotes the legitimacy of the conflict minerals in the supply chain.
