 Helium Recovery and Charging System

Helium Recovery and Charging System

Companies that use large amounts of helium can save thousands of dollars per month by recovering up to 98% of their lost helium with the Ulvac Helium Recovery and Charging System. Ulvac's helium recovery and charging systems are in operation throughout Asia, with hundreds of systems installed. They are used in conjunction with Ulvac automated leak testing systems in automotive, air conditioning, refrigeration and industrial applications where helium is used to verify the leak tightness of manufactured and assembled components. They can also be used with other leak checking systems and in other applications where helium can be recovered for reuse or recycling.

The recovery system collects the helium from the test part where it is first pumped into a low pressure holding tank. The helium then flows through a compressor and is stored in a high-pressure supply tank for reuse by the charging portion of the system in subsequent parts testing. Companies that use $100,000 of He per year can reduce their cost to $2000 by installing one of these Ulvac systems.

Helium is charged through an electro-magnetic valve where the pressure of the helium is closely monitored to ensure consistent fill pressures from part to part. An integrated filtering system and helium concentration monitor ensures the helium purity and concentration during charging for reliable and consistent leak checking results.

Applications

Process

  • Recover Helium to recovery tank by pressure difference
  • Recover Helium completely by vacuum pump
  • Helium will be compressed from recovery tank to storage tank
